Villa Erba is located in the small village of Cernobbio and was built in the 19th century by Luigi Erba. In 1986, it was transformed in an exposition and congress center by a consortium. The construction was entrusted to the two most popular architects of the moment: Angelo Savoldi and Giambattista Borsani. In those years, the villa hosted great artists and an intense cultural and social life took place within its walls. The villa was inherited by Luigi Erba's daughter Carla, who married Duke Giuseppe Visconti di Modrone in Cernobbio and it then became the home of their son, the director Luchino Visconti, in the summer months.
Villa Erba has a total of 100,000 sqm. flat lawn which can be used for events or for landing helicopters. After having personally toured the villa, I recommend it for a wedding with a minimum of 100-150 guests. The unmatched views of the lake and the grand botanical park surrounding the villa makes it a prime location for celebrations.
This magnificent Villa was the location for Nespresso advertising campaign with George Clooney and the famous Ocean's Twelve Hollywood movie.
